Data Engineers - Krakow - Poland - Hybrid

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineers to design, deliver, and enhance scalable data solutions within a modern Azure environment. This role will focus on building robust data architectures, modernising legacy processes, and ensuring high standards of data quality, governance, and performance across the enterprise.

Role Overview

You will play a key role in shaping and maintaining our cloud-based data ecosystem. Working closely with engineering, analytics, and backend development teams, you will enable secure and efficient movement of data across systems while supporting reporting and advanced analytics initiatives.

This position requires strong hands-on expertise across Azure data services, SQL-based platforms, and enterprise-scale data engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and maintain scalable data integration solutions using Azure-native services.

• Modernise existing ETL workflows and transition on-premise data processes into cloud-based ELT frameworks.

• Build and manage both scheduled batch pipelines and near real-time data processing solutions.

• Design and enhance enterprise Data Warehouse and Data Lake environments, applying dimensional modelling principles and structured schema design.

• Optimise and administer Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL environments to ensure high availability and performance.

• Support and evolve reporting platforms, consolidating and modernising legacy reporting tools.

• Integrate data from diverse sources including APIs, flat files, and secure external platforms.

• Collaborate with backend engineering teams to enable secure, reliable data exchange across application services.

• Contribute to end-to-end data solution architecture and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.

• Implement and uphold data governance, security controls, and compliance standards aligned with regulated industry requirements.

• Support business intelligence initiatives, including optimisation of Power BI datasets and refresh strategies.

• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, scalability, and cost optimisation within the Azure platform.

Technical Experience

• Minimum five years of experience in data engineering or related data platform roles.

• Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL database technologies.

• Proven experience building and migrating ETL/ELT solutions using Azure Data Factory and SQL Server Integration Services.

• Hands-on experience with Azure Data Lake (including ADLS Gen2) and broader Azure data services.

• Solid understanding of data warehouse design methodologies, including star and snowflake schemas.

• Advanced SQL capabilities, including complex query development and performance tuning.

• Experience designing enterprise data architectures and producing structured technical documentation.

• Familiarity with Azure Databricks and Apache Spark for distributed data processing.

• Experience migrating legacy data and reporting solutions into modern cloud platforms.

• Exposure to API-driven integrations and understanding of .NET-based application environments.

• Experience handling secure data transfers, including encrypted files and privileged access platforms.

• Knowledge of streaming or event-driven data architectures.

• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines for data engineering workflows.

• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, ARM templates, or Bicep.

• Awareness of cloud cost management practices and optimisation techniques.
