Project description:
The Engineering Lead plays a vital role in ensuring their team(s) have everything they need to deliver valuable outcomes. A Leader for the Engineering team both as a line manager and a coach, they will be an accomplished engineer capable of ensuring the team are taking sound technical approaches in line with our Tech strategy.
Together with the Product Manager, the Engineering lead is jointly accountable for the Product teams delivery of outcomes. The Engineering lead will work closely with the Product Manager, to ensure the team understand the business needs, opportunities, challenges, and proactively support the team(s) to find solutions and drive action
What will this role look like on a day-to-day basis?
- Accountability for the delivery of outcomes of 1-2 Product Team
- Continuous improvement of engineering maturity of the Product Team
- Line Management and career development of technical team members within the product team (5-10 per team)
- Ensure the team are operating harmoniously and effectively
- Ensure clear link between the team and stakeholders
- Team health including team composition and staffing
- Own the cost, quality, service delivery and integrity of their systems
- Ensures the team(s) are aligned to clear outcomes linked to OKRs and empowers them to achieve this
- Supports the realization and ensures common understanding of the tech strategy within the team Drives the teams focus on engineering health and quality including
- Quality and technical excellence
- Security, GDPR, Compliance · Engineering culture e.g. rapid hypothesis testing, learning from failure, automation · Tech debt and removal of legacy · Push to cloud native · Ownership of products and domains · NFRs
