If so, we want you to join us as our new HEMS Software Architect. As the lead architect of our Home Energy Management System, you will shape the future of our customer’s software platform, ensuring it is innovative, future-ready, and aligned with our mission for energy independence.
Our customer is a leading German producer of customized solutions for the self-supply of solar-powered electricity. This includes photovoltaic, energy storage systems as well as cloud technology systems helping individuals to become energetically independent.
Responsibilities
Lead the architecture of customer’s Home Energy Management System (HEMS) platform.
Design and document scalable, high-performance, and secure software architecture.
Use Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles to structure complex systems effectively.
Drive technical decision-making, architecture transitions, and platform evolution.
Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and system stakeholders.
Ensure code quality, maintainability, and operational excellence.
Champion software best practices through internal Communities of Practice.
Support the full lifecycle: concept, implementation, deployment, and beyond.
Requirements
Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
Several years of experience in software architecture, ideally within: Energy management, Smart homes/buildings, Industrial automation
Deep understanding of modern architectural patterns: Microservices, distributed systems, cloud-native design.
Proven experience applying Domain-Driven Design (DDD): Bounded contexts, aggregates, entities.
Familiarity with energy-related protocols: Modbus, REST APIs, SMA Sunspec, EEBUS.
Strong programming skills in: Java, Python, and Rust.
Experience with agile development tools and practices: Jira, Confluence, GitLab, CI/CD, test-driven development.
Excellent communication skills in English (German is a plus).
Analytical thinking, structured mindset, and collaborative spirit.
