About the project

We are looking for an experienced Software Architect (Backend & APIs) to join an ambitious greenfield initiative in the financial sector.

The project focuses on designing and building from scratch a modern, scalable analytics and research platform that will support the complete lifecycle of premium financial content - from creation and management to publication, distribution, and consumption analytics.

The platform will initially serve institutional clients, with a planned expansion toward retail users in later phases.

This is a high-impact role for someone who enjoys solving complex architectural challenges, designing systems for scale, and shaping technical direction from the ground up.

You will help create a platform that:

• streamlines and automates financial research workflows

• structures and manages large volumes of analytical content

• enables secure and scalable content distribution

• provides advanced insight into user engagement and content consumption

• supports future scalability across multiple client segments

Your responsibilities

• Design and evolve scalable backend and API architectures for cloud-native and hybrid environments

• Define system architecture with strong focus on scalability, maintainability, resilience, and security

• Design public and internal APIs, including versioning strategy, contracts, backward compatibility, and integration standards

• Collaborate with sales and delivery teams during technical discovery, estimation, and solution planning

• Work closely with engineering teams to solve complex backend challenges and improve technical standards

• Drive architectural decisions and clearly communicate technical trade-offs

• Collaborate directly with clients and domain experts to clarify requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions

• Create and maintain architecture documentation, technical proposals, and design decisions

• Support engineering excellence through improvements in tooling, development practices, and platform standards

• Explore and apply AI-powered engineering tools to enhance productivity and system capabilities

Tech environment

You will work with modern backend and cloud technologies, including:

• Java 21, Spring Boot

• REST APIs / OpenAPI

• PostgreSQL

• Docker, Kubernetes, GKE

• Google Cloud Platform

• API Gateway / service mesh solutions

• Event-driven integrations

• Authentication & authorization standards (OIDC / SSO / JWT)

• Observability and monitoring tooling

We value strong understanding of modern architectural approaches such as modular systems, domain-oriented design, contract-first APIs, event-driven patterns, and cloud-native distributed systems.

Must have

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience

• Strong hands-on experience designing backend architectures and APIs

• Proven ability to lead architectural discussions and make pragmatic technical decisions

• Practical experience building and reviewing real production-grade backend systems

• Strong experience working directly with clients and external stakeholders

• Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly

• Experience with scalable distributed systems and cloud-native architectures

• Transparent, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset

• Experience across the full software lifecycle - from prototyping to strategic architectural direction

• Strong command of written and spoken English (C1 minimum)

Nice to have

• Experience in the financial sector or highly regulated environments

• Experience with event-driven architectures and asynchronous integrations

• Knowledge of modern identity and access management solutions

• Familiarity with AI-powered development tools, LLM-based workflows, or AI-assisted engineering practices
