What You’ll Do

At Sigmoidal, you will bridge advanced analytics with investment strategy to help Private Equity investors and portfolio companies uncover hidden value. You will combine hands-on data science with business judgment to deliver insights that move the needle in high-stakes contexts.

In this role, you will:

• Apply advanced methods: Deploy ML, predictive modeling, LLMs, and Generative AI to investment and operational use cases (pricing, margins, churn & LTV, market sizing, efficiency).

• Use your extensive expertise in Python and NLP: Apply topic modeling and text analytics to uncover themes, emerging risks, and growth opportunities in unstructured data.

• Lead end-to-end delivery: Scope, design, and execute models and solutions that generate actionable insights for diligence and value creation.

• Own engagement delivery: Define methodology, manage scope, and ensure high-quality, on-time outcomes.

• Frame investment challenges: Translate critical deal and portfolio questions into structured hypotheses and analytical work plans.

• Surface the unexpected: Probe anomalies, reveal hidden drivers, and identify signals that reshape competitive dynamics.

• Partner with deal teams: Collaborate with PE investors, partners, and executives to test theses, size markets, and pressure-test performance levers.

• Communicate with impact: Distill complex analytics into concise recommendations and trade-offs for senior stakeholders.

• Build long-term capability: Codify insights into reusable frameworks and strengthen Sigmoidal’s differentiated offerings.

• Raise the bar: Continually refine assumptions, models, and approaches to deliver sharper insights.

What You’ll Bring

• Technical depth and versatility: Demonstrated experience applying advanced analytics across varied business contexts.

• Tool fluency: Proficiency in Python, SQL, Excel, Hadoop/Hive, Postgres, or Alteryx.

• Data visualization skills: Ability to communicate insights clearly using Tableau or Power BI.

• Passion for transformation: Enthusiasm for data science, statistics, and embedding analytics into strategic decision-making.

• Core expertise: Hands-on experience in predictive modeling, time series, clustering, dimensionality reduction, machine learning, simulation, optimization, or NLP.

• Private Equity value creation exposure: Experience with market sizing, revenue segmentation, pricing and margin analysis, churn/LTV modeling, or operational efficiency.

• Project leadership: Track record of scoping, planning, and delivering analytics workstreams with senior stakeholders.

• Strategic problem solving: Strength in structuring ambiguous challenges, hypothesis-driven thinking, and inductive reasoning.

• Client presence: Ability to engage executives with professionalism and clarity, simplifying the complex to drive decisions.

• Innovation mindset: Appetite to build proprietary methodologies, new offerings, and contribute to thought leadership.

Experience & Qualifications

• Professional experience: 5+ years in advanced analytics or data science, or 4+ years in a top-tier consulting environment.

• Education: Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Business Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related field.

• Proven impact: Strong record of success in consulting or investment contexts, delivering measurable business outcomes.

• Business fluency: Ability to connect technical solutions with strategic objectives in high-pressure, fast-paced settings.
