About the role

We are currently looking for an experienced Data Scientist with strong R expertise to join our team and support a key client in the energy sector. The role involves working on a large-scale migration project within the Risk department, focused on data reconciliation, debugging complex R frameworks, and ensuring the accuracy of critical market and risk data.

Data Scientist with R

What will you be doing?

• Serve as the R subject-matter expert and technical lead, driving the migration of a complex R framework (including its packages, interfaces, and dependencies) from legacy platforms (Mesap, Prophet, P7) to the modern MDS and Monet environments — with a focus on stability and minimal business disruption.
• Take ownership of reconciling large-scale datasets (e.g., market data) across multiple systems, ensuring data consistency, reliability, and integrity throughout the migration lifecycle.
• Lead the reengineering of the R framework to fully adopt REST APIs and JSON data formats, improving its integration capabilities and boosting performance in the new architecture.
• Work closely with the Risk team to improve and standardize development workflows, streamline CI/CD processes, and enable efficient code deployment across platforms like Mesap, P7, Prophet, and Monet.
• Act as a mentor and advisor on R best practices in a cloud-native context, supporting the Risk team in building robust, maintainable, and scalable R-based solutions within the existing Risk R framework.

Must-Have Skills:

• 5+ years of experience as Quant Developer or Data Scientist.
• Development experience in R, Python, relational databases and cloud environment.
• Primary focus is to be hands-on, develop, test, debug and provide R expert knowledge. R knowledge is key.
• Experience with CI/CD using Git and Github actions and Azure DevOps.
• Fluent in Polish and English

Nice to have:

• Experience with Linux and Docker
• Experience with managing, processing, reconciling and testing large data sets
• German language is a big advantage
