Job description

Online interview

Are you at the classic career crossroads of managing a team but wanting to stay technical? Do you enjoy leading people and embrace the responsibilities that come with that, but you still want to dig into some of the interesting problems the team is tackling and help. The way that this business is run might suit you down to a tee.

They have split all their engineering groups into small autonomous teams of 3 engineers and a lead. The lead is entirely responsible for the team including appraisals, salary negotiations, development plans, conflict resolution and all the things you would ordinarily expect a good manager to care about. This workload is balanced by the small team size allowing you time to get technical.

In the longer term, you can decide if you want to embrace management and take over more than one squad, becoming a “leader of leads” or maintain your technical focus. The business is growing fast, and there is plenty of scope for enjoying either path.

About the business.

Series B funded startup with an AI focussed product designed to help large enterprises effectively monitor their supply chain for threats to smooth production. HQ in Vienna but hiring hubs in London and Munich.

The specific focus of your team.

Monitoring alerts. A news feed style feature that keeps organizations up to date on specific threats to their supply chain. Global weather events, strikes, political upheaval etc.

Required skills and experience;

  • Strong JVM background - (Kotlin preferred)
  • Previous experience of leading teams (with or without the title)
  • Flexible outlook (you’ve probably worked in a start-up before)

Working set up

The company HQ is in Vienna and whilst the team work remotely a lot of the time, proximity to the office and or willingness to travel there will be a factor if there are large numbers of applicants.
