Solution Architect

Our global Digital Document Services (DDS) team provides essential cross-functional services across all business units at Schenker, supporting digital creation, distribution, archival, and document access. We are focused on enhancing our digital document management and are building a team of solution and system architects to assist in application development and maintenance within Schenker's IT landscape. As a Solution Architect in Output Management (OM) and Document Management (DM), you will play a vital role in ensuring efficient output and document systems. You will work within the Digital Document Services team, contributing to the design of core applications for Schenker’s major transport management systems, alongside an international product management team located in Warsaw, Essen, and Frankfurt.

Your tasks:

• Focus on architectural best practices for scalability, availability, and security in Order Management (OM) and Document Management (DM) applications.  
• Collaborate with product teams and various architects to enhance stability and drive improvements.  
• Own the design, implementation, and enhancement of OM and/or DM backend components, including applications, APIs, and integrations.  
• Ensure compliance with Schenker IT security guidelines and architectural standards.  
• Analyze change requests for OM DM applications with subject matter experts (SMEs) and business analysts.  
• Conduct system tests and drive technical improvements based on evolving requirements.  
• Create design documentation for existing and new architectures.  
• Work with DBAs and DevOps to address system health issues and clear technical debts.  
• Collaborate on design analyses and validations of architectural changes, serving as a backup SME to prevent knowledge gaps.  

Our requirements:

• University degree in computer science, IT, or equivalent.
• 3-4 years in architect roles (solution, technical, or software) with 8-12 years of total technical/IT experience.
• Expertise in the Java ecosystem; hands-on with Spring Boot, JMS, JAX.
• Required experience in asynchronous backend design (Pub-Sub) using SQS, KAFKA, or RabbitMQ.
• Proficient in JAVA backend design using Onion/Clean architecture.
• Familiar with AWS services (EC2, RDS, EFS, SNS, SQS, S3).
• Knowledge of ELK and Prometheus for monitoring.
• Familiarity with microservice patterns (Domain Driven, Event Driven, CQRS) is valuable.
• Good knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS), containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code (Terraform).
• Understanding of database design best practices and performance analysis.
• Capability in designing system interface documentation for clarity and consistency.
• Business fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential.
• Knowledge of agile methodologies; experience with Jira and Confluence. like tools.
