We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Azure Virtual Desktop (aka AVD) Cloud Engineer to join our dynamic Global Platform Engineering team, within the Global Platform Services department.You will be responsible for the design, deployment, and management of Azure Virtual Desktop environments. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that the AVD infrastructure meets the business needs of our clients, while maintaining high levels of performance, security, and compliance. This role requires a deep understanding of Azure services, virtualization technologies, and cloud management best practices. The AVD Cloud Engineer will be positioned within the business unit “Global Operation Infrastructure Services”, the team is responsible for engineering DB Schenker’s Cloud environments based on amulti-hybrid-cloud architecture delivered with global processes and tools.
Key tasks & responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, and manage Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments, including host pools, session hosts, and user profiles.
- Configure and manage AVD resources, including virtual machines, networking, storage, and security settings.
- Ensure that AVD environments adhere to security best practices, compliance standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage user access, permissions, and provisioning within the AVD environment.
- Monitor the performance of AVD environments, identify bottlenecks, and implement
- optimizations.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to AVD performance, connectivity, and user experience.
- Optimize cloud resource usage to minimize costs and maximize efficiency.
- Maintain detailed documentation of AVD environments, including architecture, configurations, and operational procedures.
- Work closely with other engineering teams, including network engineers, security teams, and application developers, to ensure seamless integration of AVD with other cloud services.
- Stay up to date with the latest Azure updates, features, and best practices, and implement improvements to the AVD environment as needed.
- Provide technical guidance and support to clients on AVD-related issues, ensuring a smooth user experience.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure management, with a focus on Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and Azure services.
- Strong expertise in Azure Virtual Desktop, Azure AD, Azure Networking, Azure Security, and Azure Monitoring.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Network Security Groups, Azure Load Balancer, Azure Storage, and Azure Backup.
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as Hyper-V, VMware, or Citrix.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash for automation tasks.
- Understanding of identity and access management (IAM) principles, including Azure AD and conditional access.
- Experience with Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Azure CLI.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to quickly identify and resolve complex issues.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of desktop virtualization technologies, including Remote Desktop Services (RDS) and VDI solutions.
- Experience with Azure Sentinel or other cloud-based security information and event management (SIEM) tools.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and methodologies.
- Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals and/or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (or equivalent) is preferred
