Senior Platform Support Specialist – Virtualization & Storage

The Senior Platform Support Specialist– Virtualization and Storage within the business unit “GIS GPS Global Platform Operations” is responsible for supporting DB Schenker’s OnPrem Landing Zones and related activities building on our modern multi-hybrid-cloud platform using global project and support processes.

This role contributes to the Cloud Journey of DB Schenker by supporting the onboarding activities and operations of existing and new workloads to the Schenker Cloud Platform. 

Key tasks & responsibilities:

•  Administration and Support of the Virtualization systems, based on VMWare
•  Administration and Support of the Storage systems, based on Netapp technologies
•  Setup and Maintenance of Backup-Jobs and Archive-Processes
•  Troubleshooting in Virtualization & Storage Environments
•  Capacity Management of the supported Virtualization & Storage Environments
•  Coordination of external suppliers regarding global hardware deployment and repair

Requirements:

•  Extended technical knowledge and applied experience in NetApp based Storage Systems
•  Extended technical knowledge and applied experience in VMWare based Virtualization Technologies
•  Optional Technology Certifications are valued during the selection process (eg NetApp NCSA/NCDA, VMWare VCP,VCAP)
•  Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
•  More than 8 years of experience in IT related industries
•  Basic knowledge of ITIL processes (Foundation Level)
•  Basic knowledge of IT security regulations and standards such as ISO 27001
•  Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across diverse organizations, groups and functions
•  Flexible thinker able to operate in a changing environment
•  Fluent Business English (written and spoken)
