Senior Data Engineer

✨ About the role

We’re looking for a senior-level Data Engineer to join a high-impact media project at a very early stage. This is a unique opportunity to build an entire data ecosystem from the ground up in a fast-moving, low-structure environment where your technical decisions will directly shape the future of the platform.

The project focuses on integrating and reconciling data from multiple fragmented sources into a reliable, scalable, and business-ready foundation. We’re searching for a true “one-person army”, someone who can independently define architecture, establish best practices, build pipelines, communicate directly with stakeholders, and take full ownership of the data domain from day one.

The stack has not been finalized yet, which means you’ll have significant influence over tooling and technical direction. Strong autonomy, leadership, and communication skills are essential, as you’ll work closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

✏️ Your responsibilities

• Conduct discovery interviews with the client to understand their environment and business goals.

• Propose and select the appropriate tools and technologies to build a Modern Data Stack from scratch.

• Own the end-to-end design and implementation of the data infrastructure in a fragmented environment.

• Build a production-grade data foundation ensuring reliability and scalability.

• Integrate and reconcile multiple data sources such as CRM Batch, Piano, WordPress, and analytics tools.

• Design and implement a robust data warehouse architecture aligned with business-critical use cases.

• Develop and orchestrate resilient data pipelines using tools like Airbyte and SQL.

• Define and implement a Master Data Management approach across inconsistent data sources.

• Take full ownership of data quality including monitoring and validation processes.

• Make and defend architecture decisions balancing speed and long-term sustainability.

• Proactively communicate trade-offs and risks to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

🎯 You’re the right candidate if you have

• Proven ability to operate as a one-man army by talking to clients, picking the right tools, and delivering results without a pre-defined backlog.

• 4+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering within Modern Data Stack environments.

• 4+ years of deep experience with advanced SQL and data transformation at scale.

• 4+ years of experience building robust and production-grade data pipelines.

• Proven experience with data warehouse architecture such as BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift.

• Strong understanding of data modeling and data system design.

• Ability to work autonomously in low-structure and high-ambiguity environments.

• Strong ownership mindset with a focus on delivering business impact rather than just technical output.

• English proficiency at B2 level or above to lead client discussions.

🧩 Nice to have

• Experience working in subscription-based businesses or digital media organizations.

• Proven track record of building a data platform from scratch under time constraints.

• Hands-on experience with Airbyte, dbt, and modern orchestration tools.

• Experience integrating with CRM and product analytics platforms.
