System Engineer

Our mission is to connect best-in-class, passionate engineers with fast-growing digital & technology companies.We're looking for a System Engineer who will join a project in one of our strategic clients in the UK, supporting and developing central IT infrastructure across multiple sites. The role focuses on maintaining and modernising Microsoft-based environments (Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Windows Server, VMware) while acting as a Tier 3 escalation point for complex technical issues. You will work closely with the client’s Central IT Services team, local IT Managers, and external vendors on infrastructure operations, migrations, and automation initiatives, where fluent English communication is essential for daily collaboration.

🔷Responsibilities:

• Provision, maintain and provide ongoing technical support for central IT infrastructure to meet defined uptime objectives and enable the continued expansion of central IT services across the group.

• Configure and support a secure & scalable Microsoft 365 environment based on Entra ID, Intune, Exchange Online, Sharepoint and related cloud platform components.

• Support delivery and maintenance of company software based Windows 2016-2025 and Windows Desktop (10/11) via Active Directory, Azure AD and Group Policies

• Provide high-level support and maintenance for internal infrastructure based on VMware (ESXi), Cisco and HP Bladesystem, including assisting in upgrades, migrations etc

• Provide internal support & incidents resolution for non-it employees and stakeholders, acting as L3 Engineer for incidents and support requests

• Serve as a technical expert and escalation point for IT Systems Administrators and IT Managers across the Group

• Collaborate with third-party vendors, to manage incidents, service requests, project scoping and timely delivery of central IT services.

• Provide and maintains consistent build specifications and SOP documentation

• Identify opportunities to improve system efficiency, reduce manual overhead, and lower total cost of ownership without compromising performance or resilience.

• Introduce automation and standardization in system provisioning, monitoring, and patching to improve service reliability, reduce human error, and accelerate delivery of infrastructure services.

🎯Requirements:

• Minimum 4+ years of commercial experience in a similar role, such as System Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, IT Systems Engineer, Senior Systems Administrator, or IT Infrastructure Specialist.

• Experience in supporting hybrid IT environments (physical & virtual) with focus on configuration, troubleshooting and and overall maintenance

• Hands-on experience configuring and supporting Microsoft 365 portfolio - Exchange, Sharepoint, Entra ID and Intune including external integrations (SSO)

• Proficient in supporting Microsoft Server (2016–2025) and Windows Desktop (10/11) operating systems at a Tier 3 level  

• Skilled in managing Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy to ensure secure, scalable identity management across business units.

• Experienced in maintaining and supporting VMware ESXi clustered estates with focus on uptime, efficiency, and user transparency.

• Confident using remote monitoring and management tools such as NinjaRMM, SPRTG, SNMP  to support distributed systems and users.

• Solid understanding of core network protocols such as DNS, DHCP, NTP, and SNMP

• Strong diagnostic skills and a methodical mind-set for identifying and resolving root causes rather than surface-level symptoms.

• Capable of producing high-quality technical documentation that supports team knowledge-sharing and operational consistency
