Data Engineer (Databricks)

We are seeking for a Data Engineer (Databricks) to join our CE backend engineering team, responsible for design, development and implementing data and analytics cloud-based analytics platforms (DAP) and pipelines that acquire, cleanse, transform, and publish data from a wide variety of sources.

The scope is 12+ digital products serving 700 users in Central Europe. The ideal candidate will possess Databricks knowledge, a strong background in data engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assemble large complex data sets which meet functional and non-functional business requirements.

• Partner with data asset managers, architects, and development leads to ensure a technical solution provides data which is fit for use and in line with architecture blueprints.

• Contribute to and leverage coding standards and best practices to ensure services and components are efficient and reusable.

• Apply good development practices and follow agreed architectural design. 

• Define the infrastructure revamp to reduce technical debt.

• As part of scrum team, deliver data engineering projects in line with business priorities.

• Provide L3 support for existing processes on a timely basis. Perform analysis of bugs and incidents.

• Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements. Streamline and automate backend processes

• Continuous Learning: Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data engineering management, and apply that knowledge to drive innovation and improvement. Contribute to team-wide knowledge sharing. 

Requirements:

• Strong proficiency in Pyspark for data processing and transformation.

• Proficiency and hands-on experience with Databricks, including cluster management, notebook development, and job scheduling.

• Proficiency in SQL for data manipulation, querying, and performance tuning.

• Experience in designing, implementing, and optimizing data pipelines and ETL processes using Pyspark, Databricks, and Airflow.

• Familiarity with data modeling, data warehousing concepts, and dimensional modeling techniques.

• Understanding of data integration patterns, data lakes, and data quality best practices.

• Experience with Azure cloud platform, Google Cloud Platform will be a plus.

• Experience in Databricks Workflow management and orchestration of data pipelines will be a plus.
