The Role

We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer who will take primary ownership of our infrastructure.

Your mission:

• Understand the current setup

• Conduct a structured infrastructure audit

• Define an improvement roadmap

• Lead modernization efforts

The goal is not only maintenance, but standardization, simplification, and strengthening the infrastructure for long-term scalability and reliability.

An outsourced team remains available for night coverage and support.

There is no formal 24/7 on-call rotation, but availability is required for critical incidents.

Current Infrastructure

• 10+ servers on Hetzner Cloud (application, DB, Elasticsearch, Redis), multi-region (EU + US)

• Dedicated server with Proxmox (reverse proxy, monitoring, scrapers, ML, automation)

• Cloudflare (DNS, CDN)

• AWS S3

• MySQL (replication)

• Redis

• Elasticsearch cluster

• Laravel backend + Next.js frontend

• Queues via Laravel Horizon

• Traffic: tens to occasionally hundreds of thousands of users daily

Responsibilities

Infrastructure & Cloud

• Conduct structured infrastructure audit

• Simplify and consolidate architecture within Hetzner

• Improve reliability, scalability, and performance

• Manage servers and VMs (Hetzner, Proxmox)

Databases & Clusters

• Maintain and optimize MySQL replication

• Manage Redis and Elasticsearch clusters

• Ensure backup strategies and disaster recovery readiness

CI/CD & Automation

• Design and improve CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or similar)

• Implement and expand Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, or similar)

• Automate routine tasks

Monitoring & Reliability

• Design and maintain monitoring and alerting systems

• Reduce incident frequency

• Improve observability

Security & Networking

• Access management

• Firewall configuration

• Updates and patching

• VPN, DNS, load balancing

Documentation

• Build and maintain structured infrastructure documentation

• Ensure environment transparency for other engineers

Over time, you may support additional internal projects.

Requirements

• 5+ years of Linux administration experience

• Strong troubleshooting skills

• Nginx, PHP-FPM, Node.js configuration and optimization

• MySQL replication, backups, configuration, performance tuning

• Redis and Elasticsearch cluster management

• Docker

• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible or similar)

• Monitoring systems (Grafana, Prometheus, ELK or similar) — ability to build systems, not only use dashboards

• CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or similar)

• Proxmox or similar virtualization

• Hetzner Cloud or similar hosting providers

• Cloudflare

• Networking fundamentals (VPN, firewalls, DNS, load balancing)

• Git, Bash, scripting and automation

• Working level of English

• High level of independence and proactivity

Nice to Have

• Experience migrating infrastructure between providers

• Experience implementing HA solutions (MaxScale, Redis Sentinel, Elasticsearch clustering)

• Understanding of Laravel/PHP stack from application perspective

• Experience optimizing infrastructure costs

• Experience with local LLM infrastructure (vLLM, Ollama, GPU servers)
