Data Architect (SQL, Snowflake and Qlik)

For a client in the financial services sector, we are seeking an experienced Data Architect to take ownership of the reliability, performance, and operations of a large-scale data replication and analytics platform built on SQL, Qlik, and Snowflake.

Requirements

• Strong SQL Server internals knowledge (Log, Backup/Truncation, AlwaysOn/AG, Troubleshooting)

• Experience with CDC/Data Replication (including log-based)

• Hands-on Qlik Replicate (Task Design, Monitoring/Notifications, Latency Troubleshooting)

• Operational knowledge of Snowflake (Loading/Staging, Performance, Cost)

• Azure operational experience (Monitoring, Alerting, Log Aggregation)

Nice to have:

• Qlik Compose / dbt / DWH modeling tools

• Alternative CDC tools (Debezium/Kafka, GoldenGate, Fivetran HVR)

• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)

• Data quality frameworks (Great Expectations)

  
  

Responsibilities

• Own Qlik Replicate operations: task design, monitoring, alerting, SLOs, runbooks, and response automation

• Troubleshoot and tune replication latency, failures, and performance issues

• Build and operate data reliability processes: completeness checks, source-to-target reconciliations, incident management, and root cause analysis

• Own SQL Server HA/DR: AlwaysOn / Availability Groups failover & failback procedures, testing, and configuration hardening

• Capacity planning and performance tuning across SQL Server, Qlik Replicate, and Snowflake

• Identify and fix bottlenecks in transaction log, I/O, long-running transactions, snapshots, and network

• Define and enforce DBA standards for:

  • Transaction log backups and retention

  • CDC-friendly indexing strategies

  • Long transaction management

• Coordinate priorities and governance with DBA and application teams
