Head of Engineering

We are seeking an experienced Head of Engineering to lead the Lido Flight engineering organization through a period of significant transformation. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of our product and engineering culture, driving technical excellence, and enabling organizational agility.

The scope and complexity of this role are substantial: you will oversee an organization of 40+ engineering teams serving 70+ airline customers worldwide, each with mission-critical operational needs. This requires balancing scalability, reliability, and innovation across a highly distributed environment.

You will be accountable for engineering delivery and quality in, ensuring close collaboration with Product Management, Operations, Services and other stakeholders. This is a senior leadership role requiring strategic vision, operational rigor, and strong technical depth.

Your responsibilities:

• Define and execute the engineering strategy in alignment with company objectives.

• Build and develop a high-performing engineering organization and strong leaders at all levels.

• Oversee technical initiatives, including architecture modernization, migration from legacy systems, and adoption of cloud technologies (Azure, GCP).

• Implement engineering best practices, quality standards, and operational excellence.

• Champion AI integration in development processes and products to enhance productivity and innovation.

• Collaborate closely with Product Management, Operations, and Services to ensure efficient project delivery and customer satisfaction.

• Mentor and develop technical talent, including recruitment and retention strategies for key roles.

• Represent the engineering team in cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives.

Our requirements:

• Proven experience managing large engineering organizations (200+ people) in complex environments.

• Strong technical background in B2B/SaaS software and mission-critical operational systems.

• Track record of leading technical, cultural, and organizational transformations.

• Knowledge of modern software development practices, system architecture, and cloud technologies.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

• Ability to think strategically while diving into technical details when necessary.

• Openness to change, innovation, and working in a global, distributed organization.

• Availability to come to the office in Gdańsk at least twice a week.
