Navigation Database Specialist
Role Overview
The Navigation Database Specialist is responsible for the creation, maintenance, and validation of navigation databases used in aviation systems. The role ensures that all navigation data is accurate, compliant with regulatory standards, and properly integrated into operational systems. This position combines technical skills, attention to detail, and collaboration with operational and engineering teams to ensure safe and efficient flight operations.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and update navigation databases used in aviation systems.
Validate data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with ICAO/EASA standards.
Collaborate with pilots, operations, engineering, and data teams to ensure usability and correctness of navigation data.
Support monitoring and reporting on data integrity and database performance.
Assist in integrating navigation databases with avionics systems and other digital platforms.
Prepare documentation, reports, and change logs for database updates and regulatory compliance.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance database accuracy and operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications
2–6 years of experience in navigation database management, aviation data, or related technical roles.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Understanding of aviation navigation systems and operational procedures.
Knowledge of ICAO/EASA standards and data compliance requirements.
Experience with database tools or aviation-specific software (e.g., Jeppesen, ARINC).
Effective communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional teams.
Fluent English (written and spoken).
Nice to Have
Experience with digital avionics systems and navigation data integration.
Familiarity with GIS or other mapping/charting tools.
Exposure to Agile/Scrum or other iterative delivery methodologies.
Understanding of flight operations and air traffic management processes.
