2nd Line Support Engineer (Hybrid – Berlin)

We are seeking a motivated 2nd Line Support Engineer to join our Berlin-based team. The ideal candidate has experience in supporting VMware, multi-cloud environments (Azure, GCP, AWS), and scripting (Bash, Python, or PowerShell). You will play a crucial role in resolving escalated technical issues, ensuring system reliability, and supporting infrastructure in a hybrid IT environment. Familiarity with Kubernetes, backup solutions, and traditional deployment models is a plus.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Issue Resolution:
  • Handle escalated technical issues from 1st Line Support, providing effective resolutions within SLAs.
  • Multi-Cloud Environment Operations:
  • Assist in managing resources in Azure, GCP, and AWS.
  • System Automation and Scripting:
  • Develop and execute scripts (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python) to automate recurring tasks and optimize workflows.
  • System Monitoring:
  • Monitor systems using tools like Dynatrace, Splunk, or Datadog, proactively addressing issues to prevent downtime.
  • Backup and Disaster Recovery:
  • Support system backup strategies using tools like CommVault or Veeam and assist with recovery processes when necessary.
  • Documentation:
  • Maintain detailed technical documentation and update knowledge bases to streamline support processes.


Required Work Experience:


  • IT Infrastructure Support:
  • 3-5 years of experience in IT infrastructure, including server and cloud environments.
  • Cloud Environment Support:
  • Hands-on experience in Azure and/or GCP cloud platforms.
  • Backup Tools Knowledge:
  • Experience with tools like CommVault or Veeam.
  • Networking Basics:
  • Familiarity with DNS, DHCP, and Active Directory configurations.


Technical Skills:


  • Virtualization and Cloud:
  • Proficiency in VMware and cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, and AWS).
  • Scripting and Automation:
  • Ability to write scripts in PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
  • Monitoring Tools:
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk, Datadog, or VMware vRealize.
  • Backup and Recovery:
  • Knowledge of backup solutions and disaster recovery processes.
  • Containerization and IaC (Optional):
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform is a plus.
