We’re Kingfisher, a team made up of over 74,000 passionate people who bring Kingfisher - and all our other brands: Castorama, B&Q, Screwfix, Brico Dépôt and Koçtaş - to life. That’s right, we’re big, but we have ambitions to become even bigger and even better. We want to become the leading home improvement company and grow the largest community of home improvers in the world. And that’s where you come in.

At Kingfisher, our customers come from all walks of life, and so do we. We want to ensure that all colleagues, future colleagues, and applicants to Kingfisher are treated equally regardless of age, gender, marital or civil partnership status, colour, ethnic or national origin, culture, religious belief, philosophical belief, political opinion, disability, gender identity, gender expression or sexual orientation.

We are open to flexible and agile working. Therefore, we offer colleagues a blend of working from home and our office, located in Kraków. Talk to us about how we can best support you!

At Kingfisher, we value the perspectives that any new team members bring, and we want to hear from you. We encourage you to apply for one of our roles, even if you do not feel you meet 100% of the requirements.

In return, we offer an inclusive environment, where what you can achieve is limited only by your imagination! We encourage new ideas, actively support experimentation, and strive to build an environment where everyone can be their best self.

We offer a competitive benefit package and plenty of opportunities to stretch and grow your career:

  • 25,000 - 31,000 PLN gross per month on an employment contract

  • Private medical healthcare at LUXMED (including dentalcare) for you and your family

  • Medicover sports card (Fit&More package)

  • Life insurance financed by the employer

  • 30-minute lunch break included in the 8-hour working day

  • Work in a highly professional and stimulating atmosphere

  • Training & Buddy programme that will allow you to quickly adapt to your new role

  • Wellbeing programme for employees

  • Co-financing of monthly tickets for the public transport in Krakow

  • Comfortable working environment in the office and the possibility of home office

  • Language courses, accounting courses, access to LinkedIn Learning and the possibility of co-financing studies and certification

  • Employee referral programme

What's the job

About the role   As an Engineering Squad Lead, you will focus on enabling the growth and performance of the Order Sourcing team while maintaining a high standard of delivery. You will work closely with Product Owners to enhance day-to-day collaboration, ensure the team’s work remains aligned with broader business priorities, and drive continuous improvement in how the team operates.

A key part of the role is to support and guide engineers through ongoing mentoring, coaching, and constructive feedback. By combining strong technical knowledge with effective people leadership, you will help the team operate efficiently, deliver value consistently, and continue to develop their skills and capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a people manager for the team, supporting individual growth, career development, and wellbeing through regular one-to-one discussions, coaching, and structured performance feedback.

  • Plan and oversee the delivery of team objectives, ensuring commitments are met and remain aligned with customer needs, product priorities, and engineering expectations.

  • Drive continuous improvement in team effectiveness and delivery by evolving ways of working, with a strong emphasis on Agile and Scrum practices, including sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.

  • Provide consistent coaching and constructive feedback to help team members strengthen both their technical skills and professional behaviours.

  • Work in close partnership with Chapter Leaders to share delivery insights, support capability development, and enable growth at both an individual and team level.

  • Apply solid software engineering experience together with people leadership to uphold high engineering standards and maximise the team’s overall impact.

  • Set clear, measurable goals aligned with wider organisational objectives, track progress within an Agile framework, and proactively identify and mitigate risks to support sustainable and predictable delivery.

What you'll bring

  • Solid experience in software engineering, with exposure to web technologies across backend, frontend, and/or quality engineering.

  • Good understanding of the IT landscape, including current and emerging technologies and their relevance to retail or similar industries.

  • Proven experience leading and motivating teams in large, complex, and fast-paced matrix environments.

  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across the organisation.

  • Clear and effective communication skills, combined with a collaborative leadership approach.

  • Practical experience working in Agile, iterative delivery environments, contributing to planning, team ceremonies, and continuous improvement within Scrum-based ways of working.

  • Ability to solve complex problems, work effectively in ambiguous situations, and deliver practical outcomes.

  • Strong focus on people leadership, including coaching, mentoring, and developing team members.

  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and high-performing team culture.

  • Understanding of modern QA practices and testing approaches.

  • Sound knowledge of infrastructure concepts, with experience working with automation and test frameworks.

  • Excellent command of English (written and spoken)
