About the role
As part of Kingfisher’s Engineering Centre in Krakow, we are expanding our teams dedicated to Castorama Polska – one of the country’s most recognized DIY retail brands. These teams will be shaping the future of retail by building and evolving Castorama’s mobile app, e-commerce platform, and the back-office systems that power store operations across Poland. If you join us, you will not just be writing code – you will be directly influencing how millions of customers shop, browse, and interact with their local Castorama stores. From launching a new generation of mobile apps to streamlining in-store tech, your work will have a real, visible impact in your own backyard.
We are going through an exciting period of change, and we are seeking a highly motivated and eager-to-learn Associate Software Engineer with expertise in Android – Kotlin with a willing to learn more about Kotlin Multiplatform to join our Software Engineering team and work on our new Android KMP programme.

Responsibilities
Help and contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of high-quality Android applications.
Contribute clean code to our new Android codebase.
Learn and help write KMP components to be shared across iOS and Android devices.
Leverage Jetpack compose for building composable user interfaces.
Write unit tests to ensure the quality and reliability of the codebase.
Utilize GitLab for source control management and code reviews.
Eager to learn and manage platform dependencies and 3rd party integrations.
Ability to integrate web-views into native views where necessary.
Work with product managers and designers to understand user needs and implement effective user interfaces.
Keep up to date with the latest trends and best practices in Android development and share knowledge with the team.
Skills and experience
Experience developing Android Apps.
Good knowledge of Kotlin and object-oriented programming principles.
An understanding of architectural design patterns such as MVVM, MVP, and MVI.
Understanding of RESTful APIs and web services integration and some knowledge of GraphQL services.
Knowledge of mobile app security best practices and how to implement them.
Some knowledge or willing to learn Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP).
Excellent command of English (written and spoken)
Bonus points for
Published articles on LinkedIn/Medium or other platforms.
Involved in an Android community via membership of online groups or meetups and can demonstrate participation in developer forums.
Some knowledge and eager to learn more iOS development.
Some experience using Jetpack Compose.
