About the role
As part of Kingfisher’s Engineering Centre in Krakow, we are expanding our teams dedicated to Castorama Polska – one of the country’s most recognized DIY retail brands. These teams will be shaping the future of retail by building and evolving Castorama’s mobile app, e-commerce platform, and the back-office systems that power store operations across Poland. We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Associate Quality Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for both developing and maintaining robust automated test suites as well as carrying out thorough manual testing across our web applications. You will work closely with developers, product managers, and DevOps teams in a fast-paced Agile environment to ensure the highest levels of software quality.

Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and optimize automation test scripts, ensuring adherence to best practices and seamless integration into the CI/CD pipeline. Facilitate skill development in automation where necessary.
Design and execute manual test cases for scenarios not covered by automation.
Ability to conduct front-end, back-end, API, integration, and regression tests to validate system functionality, performance, and stability.
Log, track, and prioritize defects, ensuring timely fixes and accurate documentation.
Provide input on testing scope, complexity, and effort during estimation and planning sessions.
Manage the entire testing lifecycle, ensuring full coverage and maintaining quality standards within the Engineering Squad.
Present test results and insights to stakeholders in "Show & Tell" sessions, highlighting product readiness and quality.
Resolve testing challenges efficiently, continuously improving processes.
Skills and experience
Knowledge of Java for test automation
Experience writing automated tests using Selenium and Cucumber, nice to have experience with Selenide
Practical experience in manual testing, including regression and smoke testing
Familiarity with CI/CD environments (e.g. GitLab pipelines, Docker)
General understanding of test automation strategies for web applications
Basic awareness of performance testing and tools such as Gatling and Lighthouse
Ability to create and maintain simple test suites
Understanding of fundamental software quality principles and Agile practices
Experience collaborating with developers and product teams
Good communication and problem-solving skills
Good command of English (written and spoken)
