Project

---

As we get Standard Application over to the new VCF environment we need to move in-scope Standard Application into our VMware Cluster and mirrored. This step requires a VMware specialist dedicated to the move and following hypercare. As a secondary need the Workstream must move workloads to make space for new capacity for 2DC mirroring. The role also will manage those activities. The VMware Specialist will conduct VMware centric migration and clean up for Standard Application migration and capacity management.

A VMware SME with the ability to vmotion across clusters both compute and storage. This is needed to empty POD (our hardware design of capacity for VMware), to be able to decommission them and build new PODs for the new VCF Platform.

 

What you will be doing 

• Write needed scripts/ automation for migration and clean up
• Drive Prod test execution and support lessons learned
• Drive Large scale vmotions insideVMware environments (empty capacity block or migrate virtual machines to SSR)
• Support PM with capacity plan creation to create capacity (e.g. space) and line can optimise hardware refresh (compute)

 

Expected competences and knowledge

• Preferably VCP in Datacenter (VMware certification)
• Understanding of multi site VMware installations
• Having worked with large scale VMware installations
• Understanding of VVD (VMware Validated Design)
• Qualification: VMware specialist, Experience with scripting
