Senior Platform Engineer - Java

Salary: 150 - 175 PLN net/h + VAT (B2B contract)

Remote: elastic hybrid from Warsaw (2 day in office per week)

Project

You will join the Platform Engineering team, responsible for building and evolving the Azure Technical Platform that powers Client’s core products. The role requires deep Java expertise combined with an understanding of distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, Kubernetes, and GitOps. You will act as a technical advisor for development teams, helping them solve platform-related challenges and make sound architectural decisions.

Responsibilities

• Developing and maintaining platform tools and automations for Java-based systems (Java 21)
• Supporting and optimizing Kubernetes workloads (Istio, ArgoCD, Helm)
• Designing high-availability and multi-region solutions in the cloud
• Providing expert platform support and recommendations to product teams
• Improving CI/CD, observability, and security across the platform
• Researching new technologies and running proofs of concept (PoCs)
• Participating in on-duty rotation (approx. 2 × 48h per month)

Expected competences and knowledge

• Senior-level experience in Java (deep understanding of Java/Kotlin and modern JVM ecosystem)
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and system architecture (e.g. load balancers, application request paths, mobile-to-backend flows)
• Practical experience with containerization (Docker) and Kubernetes
• Experience in platform engineering and building tools for developers
• Knowledge of GitOps practices and related tools (e.g. ArgoCD, Helm)
• Hands-on experience with public cloud platforms (preferably Azure, but AWS/GCP acceptable with willingness to learn Azure quickly)
• Scripting skills (e.g. Bash, PowerShell)
• DevOps mindset, including security, deployment strategies, and infrastructure awareness
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to support engineers with platform-related challenges
