Jacobs is looking for a skilled AI Data Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will contribute to building scalable and efficient AI/ML workflows by developing and improving data architectures in cloud environments. You will work on integrating diverse datasets, creating automated data pipelines, and ensuring smooth data flow to support machine learning projects across the organization.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and optimize data architectures that support AI and Machine Learning workflows
Integrate large-scale datasets from multiple sources to ensure consistency, accessibility, and performance
Build scalable, automated data pipelines to support real-time and batch data processing
Utilize cloud-based ETL services (e.g., Glue, Lambda, Data Pipeline or equivalent) to manage data ingestion, transformation, and integration tasks
Collaborate with data scientists and ML engineers to ensure data infrastructure aligns with AI/ML model requirements
Monitor and maintain data workflows to ensure reliability, scalability, and cost-efficiency
Continuously improve data engineering practices to support evolving AI/ML use cases and business needs
Here's what you'll need
3+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles, with a strong focus on cloud-based solutions
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or Scala
Solid understanding of machine learning frameworks (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch) and ability to integrate with cloud services (Azure experience is a plus)
Experience with RAG and vector-based indexing for optimizing large language models
Ability to leverage AI services such as Azure AI Search, Azure OpenAI, or equivalent platforms to solve complex AI challenges
Strong experience in building ETL/ELT pipelines using orchestration tools (e.g. Azure Data Factory, or similar) and managing large-scale data in data lakes
Knowledge of data warehousing and analytics platforms (e.g. Azure Synapse Analytics, or comparable solutions) for advanced data processing and feature extraction
Familiarity with secure deployment practices, including secret management, private networking, and identity management (e.g. Azure Key Vault, Private Endpoints, Entra ID, or similar)
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and monitoring tools (e.g. Azure Pipelines, Application Insights, Log Analytics, or equivalent)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to innovate and optimize AI/ML workflows
Nice to Have
Proficiency in C#/.NET
Experience with data privacy and compliance requirements, especially related to PII data
Familiarity with advanced data indexing techniques, vector databases, and other technologies that improve the quality of AI/ML outputs
