Senior Data Engineer – Cloud-Native Azure Data Pipelines

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be working for our client, a leader in modernizing banking data platforms. You will contribute to building and maintaining scalable, secure, and high-performance data pipelines in a cloud-native Azure environment, supporting enterprise decision-making, regulatory compliance, and strategic analytics. Your main responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and optimize enterprise-scale ETL/ELT data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and related Azure services.

• Modernize and migrate legacy ETL processes (including SSIS) to cloud solutions, ensuring seamless integration and performance.

• Build and operate batch and near-real-time streaming data workflows to support dynamic analytics needs.

• Design and enhance Data Warehouse and Data Lake architectures with dimensional modeling (star/snowflake schemas).

• Optimize MS SQL Server and Azure SQL databases for reliability, scalability, and performance.

• Support and modernize reporting tools such as SSRS and Crystal Reports; integrate data from APIs, files, and secure sources (CyberArk, SFTP).

• Collaborate closely with .NET/API teams to enable secure, reliable data flows and integrations.

• Contribute to solution architecture and produce comprehensive Solution Design Documentation (SDD).

• Uphold data quality, governance, and compliance with security standards within the banking industry.

• Support Power BI data models, refresh strategies, and performance tuning for analytics.

You're ideal for this role if you have:

• 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.

• Strong hands-on experience with MS SQL Server / Azure SQL.

• Proven expertise in designing, building, and migrating ETL/ELT pipelines with Azure Data Factory and SSIS.

• Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Crystal Reports.

• Practical knowledge of Azure Data Factory and Azure Data Lake / ADLS Gen2.

• Solid understanding of dimensional data modeling, star/snowflake schemas.

• Excellent SQL skills, including complex queries and performance tuning.

• Capability to design end-to-end data solutions and contribute to Solution Design Documentation.

• Experience with enterprise-scale data pipelines for batch and streaming data.

• Focus on data quality, governance, security, and regulatory compliance.

• Ability to work closely with backend teams and stakeholders, integrating data from diverse sources.

• Familiarity with Power BI data models and performance tuning.

It is a strong plus if you have:

• Experience with Azure Databricks and Apache Spark.

• Background in migrating legacy ETL and reporting solutions to the cloud.

• Knowledge of the .NET ecosystem and API integration.

• Experience working with secure data sources such as CyberArk and SFTP.

• Exposure to streaming or near-real-time data processing.

• Skills in CI/CD for data platforms, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM, Bicep).

• Understanding of cloud cost management and optimization strategies.
