As a Senior Data Privacy and Compliance Specialist, you will be working for our client, a leading global financial institution committed to safeguarding customer data and promoting data privacy excellence. You will play a pivotal role in advancing HSBC's data privacy initiatives, ensuring regulatory adherence across multiple markets, and fostering a culture of trust and transparency. Your main responsibilities:
Guide business users across 67 markets in utilizing DataVisa, ensuring accurate case input and control compliance.
Conduct privacy assessments of operational processes, identifying and mitigating data privacy risks through effective tools, training, and guidance.
Collaborate with project managers to ensure data privacy initiatives are understood and correctly implemented within programs.
Grow awareness and knowledge of evolving data privacy laws and regulations relevant to HSBC’s operations.
Act as a subject matter expert on global data privacy and protection law, liaising with Legal, Data Privacy, and Regulatory Compliance teams.
Develop, maintain, and manage data standards, policies, and methodologies aligned with Group Data Privacy Policy.
Create and deliver guidance, training, and educational materials on data privacy practices.
Identify improvements in local data privacy practices, supporting remediation and ongoing compliance.
Work with stakeholders to plan future data privacy needs, ensuring adherence to global scope and legislative requirements.
You're ideal for this role if you have:
At least 5 years of experience working in a Privacy Office or with Data Privacy officers.
In-depth knowledge of privacy laws such as GDPR and CCPA.
Strong ability to manage multiple stakeholders and communicate complex concepts clearly.
Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and written communication skills in English.
Experience in conducting privacy assessments and mitigation strategies.
Strong understanding of data risks, their materiality, and appropriate responses.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage changing priorities.
Proven ability to take ownership and work independently.
It is a strong plus if you have: (optional)
Certifications in data privacy or compliance (e.g., CIPP, CIPM).
Experience working within a financial institution’s privacy ecosystem.
Knowledge of legal and regulatory frameworks beyond GDPR and CCPA.
Language Required for the role:
Fluent English (verbal and written)
