Job description

About INNERGY

INNERGY is a leading cloud-based ERP provider for the woodworking, cabinetry, stone, and custom manufacturing industries. Following our recent merger with Microvellum – a market leader in CAD/CAM software – we’re bringing together two strong technology organizations to create the industry’s most complete digital platform for engineer-to-order manufacturing.

We’re a growing team of passionate engineers, designers, and product thinkers who care deeply about craftsmanship, collaboration, and continuous improvement. We value clarity over chaos, outcomes over output, and people who take ownership of both.

Core Values

At INNERGY, our values guide how we work and grow together:

  • Voice of the Customer – we listen, adapt, and act.

  • Agile as Hell – we iterate quickly and value flexibility.

  • Transparency – we’re open, honest, and straightforward.

  • Empowering Others – we support each other and encourage ownership.

About the Role

As a Software Engineering Manager at INNERGY, you’ll lead 2–4 software engineering teams (typically 15–25 people total), ensuring they are healthy, focused, and successful in delivering quality software. You’ll be responsible for people and team management, delivery health, and cross-team alignment — working closely with Tech Leads, Product Managers, and QAs to help teams perform at their best.

You’ll coach and grow engineers, maintain a high bar for technical and delivery practices, and ensure the team environment reflects INNERGY’s culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.

Responsibilities

People & Team Development

  • Manage and mentor software engineers, QAs, and Tech Leads, providing regular 1:1s, feedback, and individualized growth plans.

  • Conduct performance reviews, salary recommendations, and career pathing aligned with company standards.

  • Support hiring, onboarding, and retention efforts in partnership with recruiting and other managers.

  • Build a culture of psychological safety, trust, and technical excellence across teams.

Delivery & Execution

  • Ensure teams deliver predictably and sustainably, using data-driven but non-toxic metrics.

  • Identify and resolve systemic blockers, dependencies, and process inefficiencies.

  • Partner with Tech Leads and Product Managers to ensure roadmaps are well-scoped and balanced between feature work, maintenance, and tech debt.

  • Promote continuous improvement through retrospectives, feedback loops, and measurable outcomes.

  • (Nice to have) Prior experience using tools like Swarmia, Jellyfish, or similar to visualize delivery health and improve engineering performance.

Cross-Team & Organizational Alignment

  • Collaborate with other Engineering Managers and the Director of Software Engineering to balance priorities, headcount, and mobility across teams.

  • Support consistency in practices across teams — development workflows, engineering rituals, and communication norms.

  • Contribute to evolving INNERGY’s engineering culture and management practices.

Culture & Collaboration

  • Champion INNERGY’s core values — especially Voice of the Customer, Transparency, and Empowering Others.

  • Create an environment where issues are raised early and solved collaboratively.

  • Ensure effective collaboration across functions — especially with Product, QA, and Platform teams.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience, including 2+ years in an engineering management or team leadership role.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple teams or work streams simultaneously.

  • Experience partnering closely with Product Managers and Tech Leads to balance delivery, quality, and technical health.

  • Familiarity with agile and continuous delivery practices.

  • Excellent communication skills and empathy — able to connect with people across time zones and disciplines.

  • Comfortable managing remote teams and building culture across distributed locations (US and Poland preferred).

Nice to have:

  • Experience in 2D/3D graphics, visualization, or CAD/CAM systems (e.g., modeling pipelines, rendering engines, or geometry processing).

  • Experience using Swarmia, Jellyfish, or other delivery intelligence tools.

  • Familiarity with data-informed engineering management (e.g., DORA metrics, cycle time optimization).

Tech Stack

Our modern and scalable technology stack includes:

  • Frontend: React, TypeScript

  • Backend: .NET 8 / C#

  • Cloud & Infrastructure: Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform

Culture Highlights

We believe the best teams combine autonomy with alignment. At INNERGY, you’ll find:

  • An engineering culture built on trust and learning – blameless retrospectives, peer coaching, and technical mentorship.

  • Continuous improvement mindset – we constantly refine our processes, guided by feedback and real data.

  • Focus on craftsmanship – we care about the quality and maintainability of what we build, not just speed.

What Success Looks Like

  • Engineers under your management feel supported, challenged, and clear on their career growth path.

  • Teams consistently deliver reliable, maintainable software with predictable velocity and strong quality signals.

  • Tech Leads grow in autonomy and leadership capability.

  • Hiring pipelines are healthy, retention is strong, and team culture reflects INNERGY’s values.

  • Cross-team communication and collaboration are effective and efficient.

Recruitment Process

  1. Interview with Director of Engineering – an initial conversation about your experience, leadership style, and technical background.

  2. Panel with other Engineering Managers – collaborative discussion focused on team dynamics and management practices.

  3. Interview with CTO – deep dive into strategic alignment, technical philosophy, and organizational fit.

  4. Offer – formal offer discussion and next steps.

  5. Background check – standard verification before onboarding.
