Middleware Engineer

ING Hubs Poland is hiring!

We are looking for you if:

• you are a Middleware Specialist and have at least 3 years experience in administration and configuration of Tomcat, JBoss and WebSphere,

• have good understanding of web application architecture in production environments,

• are looking for a role where your skills truly matter and where you can further develop,

• you are able to collaborate effectively with technical teams and business stakeholders,

• ability to troubleshoot issues related to performance, logging, thread dumps,

• knowledge of Linux systems (preferably RHEL), including system administration, Service and log management and Security configuration,

• experience in writing automation and deployment scripts,

• familiarity with at least one scripting language: Python or Bash.

English level: B2

You'll get extra points for:

• experience with other middleware technologies- NGINX, Apache

• hands-on experience with Ansible for automation and configuration management,

• familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI),

• experience in using version control systems such as Git.

Your responsibilities:

• maintain, configure, and enhance middleware environments based on Apache Tomcat, JBoss, WebSphere,

• automate deployment and administrative tasks using Ansible and scripting (PowerShell/Python),

• apply security patches, manage SSL/TLS certificates, and perform regular updates on application servers,

• Identify and remediate vulnerabilities and maintain a secure server environment,

• monitor application performance and availability – analyze logs, alerts, thread dumps,

• troubleshoot and resolve middleware-related incidents,

• create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and infrastructure standards,

• prepare DTAP environments for new deployments,

• ensure compliance with audit requirements and security policies.

Information about the squad:

We operate in large-scale enterprise environments and prioritize automation, security, and system stability. The Middleware team will ultimately consist of 8 specialists (covering Messaging, Scheduling, and Application Server Management). You’ll collaborate with ING teams across multiple countries.

The role naming convention in the global ING job architecture will be “Engineer III”.
