Dev Engineer – NSX specialist Datacenter Networks Squad

We are looking for you, if you:
have in-depth knowledge of VMware NSX (certification preferred),
have broad knowledge of LAN, WAN, and Datacenter environments,
are experienced in routing and switching protocols in high-availability setups,
understand security and risk principles in infrastructure design,
are familiar with orchestration tools like Terraform, Ansible, SaltStack, Chef, Puppet, Azure Automation, Google Cloud Deployment Manager, or AWS CloudFormation,
have scripting skills in Python, Bash, PowerShell, or JavaScript.
You'll get extra points for:
hands-on experience with firewalls and Open Networking platforms is a plus,
scripting skills in Python, Bash, PowerShell, or JavaScript,
experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus,
working knowledge of Agile and DevOps practices,
experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code,
familiarity with Scrum methodology (e.g., backlog, sprint planning, reviews),
strong analytical and problem-solving skills,
a proactive, can-do attitude with a mindset of continuous improvement,
team player who values collaboration and knowledge sharing,
end-to-end ownership mentality and ability to work independently,
willingness to coach and support the development of others.
Your responsibilities:
design, implement, and maintain secure and high-performing network infrastructure,
develop and automate infrastructure using scripting and orchestration tools,
collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end solutions,
participate in agile ceremonies and contribute to a shared team backlog,
continuously improve infrastructure, documentation, and processes,
monitor, evaluate, and enhance Incident, Problem, Change, and Configuration Management processes.

Our squad is an international team in Rotterdam or Amsterdam, where we manage and evolve the IaaS technology of ING cloud platforms. As a Dev Engineer specializing in NSX and Datacenter Networks, you’ll play a key role in delivering secure, scalable, and resilient infrastructure for millions of customers.
You’ll work in an agile squad, collaborating closely with the Product Manager and fellow engineers to deliver high-impact solutions. Daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and reviews are part of your routine, supported by modern tools and a strong DevOps culture.
The role naming convention in the global ING job architecture will be “Engineer III”.
