We work in partnership with the Infrastructure Architecture Function to set the vision and roadmap for all technologies across CTO and to deliver service designs in support of business IT programmes.
We are supporting a critical infrastructure in the payments and security services sector. Therefore, we are working in daytime shifts from 7 AM until 7 PM to serve our customers from start to finish of the business day and cover overnight on calls to ensure end of day and overnight processes are running safely.
Additionally, maintenance and changes over the weekend are part of the job.
We are seeking an experienced IBM z Systems Programmer with a strong focus on storage solutions. In this role, you will be responsible for the planning, implementation, and maintenance of storage solutions on the IBM z Systems platform. You will work closely with other IT departments to ensure that our storage solutions meet the requirements for availability, security, and performance.
What you’ll do
- Manage and optimize IBM z Systems storage infrastructure.
- Ensure high availability and performance of storage solutions.
- Plan and coordinate regular microcode upgrades; plan, configure, and implement storage expansions or new storage solutions on IBM z Systems.
- Integrate global storage solutions into existing IBM z/OS environments, analyse and resolve storage issues in the z/OS environment.
- Provide support in troubleshooting and problem resolution in production environments, monitor storage pools, review storage growth, and provide capacity reports.
- Offer technical support to internal teams and users, ensure compliance with security policies and regulatory requirements, create and maintain system and storage documentation.
- Implement and manage data security solutions within the IBM z Systems environment.
- Train IT staff on storage solutions and best practices, take part in the team’s on-call ROTA to provide support outside regular working hours.
What you need to have to succeed in this role
- Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Several years of experience as a systems programmer in the IBM z Systems environment, particularly in storage.
- In-depth knowledge of IBM z/OS and related storage technologies (e.g., DFSMS, HSM).
- Experience with IBM DS8000, IBM TS7700, and similar storage systems.
- Proficiency in automation and scripting (e.g., REXX, JCL).

- Willingness to take on other responsibilities (non-storage related) in the IBM z team, depending on experience and knowledge.
- Analytical and solution-oriented approach to work.
- High level of responsibility and reliability.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to new technologies. o Certifications in the IBM z/OS domain or specific storage certifications
