Your career opportunity
The Governance Risk Manager is responsible for overseeing ERF Reports and maintaining a comprehensive
perspective on all risks affecting HBCE. Acting as the Risk Appetite Practitioner, the role holder will monitor
emerging risk themes and manage key regulatory deliverables, including the URD and RACI reports.
In addition, the Enterprise Risk Manager will lead the preparation of all ERM and CRO reports for both the Risk
Committee and the RMM. The position involves engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders across Group and
regional levels, requiring effective collaboration and communication.
Given the high volume and complexity of work, the role demands a meticulous and considered approach to ensure
deadlines are consistently met, often within time-sensitive environments. Adaptability and resilience are essential
qualities for success in this role.
What you’ll do
Management/coordination & consolidation of the ERF reports (Enterprise Risk reports: Risk Map & Risk
Appetite statement)
Ensure the Risk Map is completed promptly and that all review comments are accurately recorded in the
system, constructively challenging stakeholders when appropriate.
Provide Subject Matter Expert guidance, training, and education on the Risk Map
Develop and embed the Group Risk Appetite Framework (GRAF) and related Addenda, ensuring consistent
adherence across the organisation
Review and challenge Risk Appetite positions and supporting commentary provided by Risk Stewards.
Report Risk Appetite positions and breaches to the relevant Risk Management Meeting (RMM) via the Risk Profile Paper.
Circulation of Risk Appetite and Risk Map updates
Coordination and consolidation of the RACI/Internal Control report for the ECB, with selected sections in
French
Management of Emerging Risks
What you need to have to succeed in this role
Demonstrated understanding of both financial and non-financial risks.
Knowledge of French is mandatory.
In-depth knowledge of HSBC’s risk and control framework & clear understanding of principal risk
categories.
Proven experience navigating the regulatory environment
Practical expertise in the utilisation and application of risk appetite tools
Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders, including senior leadership
Proven track record in leading the development of data-driven solutions and reporting
Extensive experience collaborating with business and IT teams to deliver strategic change programmes
Demonstrate strong organisational skills and a proactive approach
