We are a global function of over 2,500 people, and are part of the wider Infrastructure Delivery organisation. We serve all of HSBC and its customers.
We work in partnership with the Infrastructure Architecture Function to set the vision and roadmap for all technologies across Infrastructure Delivery and to deliver Service designs in support of business IT programmes.
We can categorize Enterprise Services in the following key areas:
- Platform services. Where we securely store and analyse customer and transaction data in accordance with compliance and standards. This includes technologies such as mainframes, LINUX and Linux servers, iSeries (Mid-range), Windows and storage. As well as technologies such as Java application servers, databases and messaging services.
- Developer Services which allow our customers faster delivery of highly standardised platform services, for example, Virtualisation, ALM, Dev Engineering, GSDE, private cloud
- We also run some important programmes, most notably, our Service Change Lifecycle Programme, will be delivering benefits in the way we work with you in the business to estimate, plan and deliver the work effectively
What you’ll do
- End-to-end maintenance and monitoring databases performance, capacity and security aspects,
- Deployment software updates and changes according to the ITIL change management process,
- Troubleshooting in case of any operational or performance problems,
- Cooperation with other teams to keep database backups and prepare recovery,
- Cooperation with applications departments: Prepare DB for applications deployment and help in case of performance problems.
What you need to have to succeed in this role
- Very good knowledge of MS-SQL databases (ver. 2012 - 2019, clustering, high availability solutions),
- Deep understanding and experience with T-SQL,
- Experience with Netbackup,
- Windows Server skills, PowerShell scripting,
- Team player in an international team,
- Good knowledge of English (written and spoken),
- Good knowledge/experience working with collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence),
- Familiarity with Puppet, Ansible, Jira, Agile skills, GIT.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of SAP Sybase ASE database (ver. 16.0) as an optional,
- Proficiency with Oracle (11g, 19c), RMAN, database patching, performance tuning, PL/SQL as an optional,
- Linux Skills (RedHat) as an optional,
- Knowledge of German language (spoken) would be advantage,
