Global Operations and Automation (GO&A) exist ‘To enable HSBC with Bank wide process transformation capabilities through resilient and scalable intelligent automation technology and services. The team are truly global: developing and delivering change across all key markets supported by HSBC with a host of leading technologies. They provide technology ownership of several hundred applications that are integral to the successful support to HSBC Global Operations. Transformational change remains primary across the current book of work, delivering products and capabilities to enable faster and more streamlined services to customers of the global businesses and functions.

What you’ll do

• Liaise with product managers, other engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to understand and drive the product or service’s direction, define technical strategies, roadmaps, and implementation plans for our software projects.
• Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and ensure adherence to coding standards and design principles.
• Drive the adoption of cloud platforms and associated services (we use all major cloud providers including Ali Cloud) to optimize
• scalability, availability, and cost-efficiency of software solutions.
• Collaborate with security teams to ensure adherence to industry-standard security practices, data protection regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Champion the adoption of DevSecOps practices, promoting a culture of security, automation, and continuous

integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) throughout the development lifecycle. Provide support to DevOps teams’

• Identify and mitigate technical risks, proactively addressing issues that may impact project timelines or softwa. Provide support in identification and resolution of all incidents associated with the IT service.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and advancements in agile methodologies, extreme programming

(XP), TDD, DevSecOps, Java and Python.Promote innovation, continous improvement, and adoption of cutting edge specialist technologies and practices with the domain and across HSBC

What you need to have to succeed in this role:

• Extensive experience (8+ years) in software development, with a focus on agile methodologies, extreme programming (XP), test-driven development (TDD), and DevSecOps practices.
• Strong expertise in Java, Python, or similar programming languages, with hands-on experience developing robust and scalable software solutions for the banking or financial industry.
• In-depth knowledge of agile software development principles, practices, and tools (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, Lean, etc.).
• Proficient in extreme programming (XP) practices, including pair programming, continuous integration, refactoring, and collective code ownership.
• Demonstrated experience in implementing DevSecOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and security best practices.
•  Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, AWS, Ali Cloud) and associated services for scalable and secure software

development.

• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities, with a focus on delivering high-quality software solutions within specified constraints
