🚀 We are looking for Senior Backend Engineer to join our client's engineering team, where you will be involved in designing and implementing the server-side architecture that powers the AI LLM and agentic workflow system within a hospital setting. You will ensure data flows smoothly between components - EHR integration, AI/ML services, and the front-end interface via APIs for a 3-month project aimed at deploying LLM-based solutions and agentic workflows in a clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Define the tech stack (e.g., Python with FastAPI or Node.js) and orchestrate tasks such as data ingestion, AI inference, and result aggregation.
2. Implement secure, HIPAA-compliant RESTful APIs for uploading patient data, triggering LLM-based workflows, and retrieving outputs for the UI.
3. Coordinate with EHR integration specialists to extract structured patient data (e.g., via FHIR) and route it to AI/ML modules for processing.
4. Build services to queue and monitor agentic agents that perform tasks like generating discharge summaries, triage recommendations, or administrative automation.
5. Set up and manage data stores (SQL/NoSQL) for intermediate results, LLM embeddings, and audit logs, ensuring encryption at rest and in transit.
6. Implement event-driven or asynchronous patterns (e.g., WebSockets, message brokers) if real-time updates are required for long-running AI tasks.
7. Validate inputs, enforce authentication/authorization, and handle errors gracefully without exposing PHI (Protected Health Information).
8. Perform end-to-end tests using sample patient records to verify data integrity and AI outputs.

You might be the perfect match if you possess the following competencies:

1. 6+ years of previous commercial experience as Backend Engineer with FastAPI or Node.js, preferably with prior experience working on building scalable, HIPAA-compliant services.
2. Familiarity with FHIR and HL7 standards for healthcare data exchange.
3. Strong grasp of REST, HTTP, and web security (OAuth2, JWT) in healthcare contexts.
4. Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and/or NoSQL (MongoDB, DynamoDB) for handling large volumes of healthcare data.
5. Ability to optimize I/O for large datasets and ensure low-latency responses.
6. Ability to trace issues across the pipeline, from EHR integration to AI inference.
