The role

The Payments Methods team is a crucial part of our financial infrastructure, responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the payment methods used in Checkout, Reactivation, and Settings workflows. This team plays a critical role in ensuring the scalability, reliability, and security of payment options for HelloFresh and all our brands. The primary responsibility of a Backend Engineer in the Payments Methods squad is to lead the enhancement of the backend services & ensure that payment methods services remain scalable, resilient, and secure. This role also involves close collaboration with engineers from other Payment and Conversion squads to ensure a seamless payment experience for both existing and new customers.

What you’ll do

• Work collaboratively in a team of 5 members, utilizing diverse technologies and frameworks.

• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including the design, development, and deployment of data pipelines, while applying DevOps practices and pair programming.

•  Actively contribute as a collaborative member of an autonomous, cross-functional agile team, working closely with product owners.

• Develop a strong understanding of the core product and architecture to build and maintain software solutions.

• Work with state-of-the-art technologies like AWS Cloud, Go/Kotlin,  Kafka, Kubernetes, Istio, and more.

What you’ll bring

• Solid backend development skills in a microservices architecture, with proficiency in one of the following language: Golang, Java, or Kotlin

• Practical knowledge of containerization with tools like Docker and a basic understanding of Kubernetes. You should also have an understanding of CI/CD principles and have worked with modern deployment pipelines.

• Familiarity with software design and testing methodologies such as TDD, BDD, DDD, and distributed system patterns

• Experience in the full development lifecycle, including writing unit and integration tests, as well as helping to deploy applications.

• Hands-on experience working with both relational and NoSQL databases. Experience with event-driven systems is a plus.
