We are looking for an experienced and proactive Java Lead Developer in Warsaw to join and guide our engineering efforts in Warsaw. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead a technically strong team working on high-performance, scalable backend systems with a strong focus on security, reliability, and modern Java technologies.
You will be working in close collaboration with cross-functional teams (including distributed teams) on the design and implementation of core backend components, as well as taking a leadership role in technical decisions, mentoring, and delivery coordination.
This position requires hybrid model of work in Warsaw.
Essential functions:
Team & Technical Leadership (30%)
- Coordinate development efforts across local and remote teams.
- Provide technical direction, review architecture decisions, and ensure high engineering standards.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business goals and translate them into technical solutions.
- Support team members with mentoring, code reviews, and resolving blockers.
Hands-on Development (70%)
- Design, develop and maintain backend services and components.
- Take part in solution architecture, with a focus on scalability and performance.
- Contribute to continuous integration/deployment pipelines and containerized environments.
- Ensure quality, security, and maintainability of delivered solutions.

Qualifications:
- Proven experience (7+ years) in backend development with Java and Spring ecosystem.
- Experience in leading or mentoring engineering teams.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, integration patterns, and microservices architecture.
- Familiarity with cloud-native environments and container orchestration (Docker/K8s).
- Experience with messaging systems (Kafka) and relational databases (MySQL).
- Previous exposure to payment or HSM-related technologies is a strong plus.
- Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across teams and time zones.
Would be a plus:
- Experience in fintech, payment systems or other high-security environments.
- Hands-on experience with Helm, CI/CD, or cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure).
- Interest in performance tuning and high-throughput systems.
