As a Technical Lead Manager, you will help build a delightful and reliable messaging experience for the millions of users who love having an Android device on their wrist. With over a billion monthly active users, Messages continues to enable seamless communication for people on the go, and you’ll play a key role in ensuring that experience remains smooth and intuitive.

Responsibilities

• Work with product managers and UX designers to scope and build new features.
• Architect the full application stack - UX, database and system performance.
• Collaborate with the Wear OS platform team to influence design of new APIs.
• Interact with carrier and OEM partners to build solutions for their requirements.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, Kotlin, C++, JavaScript).
• 5 years of experience in Android development.
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role, overseeing projects, with 2 years of experience in people management, supervision, or team leadership.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
• 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
• Experience building software for wearable or related devices.
• Experience in optimizing app performance on low end devices.
