Job description
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
- 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
- 3 years of experience with one or more of the following speech/audio (e.g., technology duplicating and responding to the human voice), reinforcement learning (e.g., sequential decision making), or specialization in another ML field.
Preferred qualifications:
- 3 years of experience with ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, optimization, data processing, debugging).
- Knowledge of coding in Python and C++.

Cloud AI Speech Evaluation and Quality team is the assurance function responsible for the reliability, performance, and market readiness of the company's Speech-to-Text (STT) and Text-to-Speech (TTS) product portfolio, with a specific focus on Chirp 3, Gemini, and next-generation streaming models.
The Google Cloud AI Research team addresses AI challenges motivated by Google Cloud’s mission of bringing AI to tech, healthcare, finance, retail and many other industries. We work on a range of unique problems focused on research topics that maximize scientific and real-world impact, aiming to push the state-of-the-art in AI and share findings with the broader research community. We also collaborate with product teams to bring innovations to real-world impact that benefits our customers.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate Speech-to-Text and Text-to-Speech evaluation pipelines development.
- Design and launch experiments, including human evaluations, and autoraters to build scorecards for systems.
- Triage customer issues related to model behavior and identifying solutions. Understand how the models and surrounding systems work in order to unblock customers.
