Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience with security assessments or security design reviews or threat modeling.
- 5 years of experience with security engineering, computer and network security and security protocols.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in applications security, cryptography, network security, systems security or malware analysis.
- Experience with audits including standards, implementation, and technology, and managing, configuring, and supporting an engineering project.
- Knowledge of Cloud technologies and enterprise Compute environment with virtualization and cloud hosting.
- Excellent security skills (e.g., analysis, debugging, tracing).
- Excellent communication skills with a data-driven analytical approach toward solving problems.

Security Engineers work with network equipment and actively monitor our systems for attacks and intrusions. In this role, you will also work with software engineers to proactively identify and fix security flaws and vulnerabilities.

Responsibilities
- Identify opportunities for compliance process improvements, initiate and drive engineering projects for their implementation (e.g., monitoring solutions, audit tooling, reporting and alerting, generations and collection of audit evidence).
- Perform design reviews and advise engineering and compliance teams on compliant and secure implementation options.
- Participate in compliance meetings between the GDC Compliance and GDC engineering teams and contribute subject matter knowledge to support decision making.
- Support incident and vulnerability response in collaboration with other products and security teams at Google.
- Review requirements changes across regulatory frameworks and technical standards and determine their applicability to GDC.
