Engineering Lead
At FutureMedia, Engineering Leads are the cornerstone of execution and people leadership. This role merges the responsibilities of Engineering Managers, Technical Delivery Managers, and Tech Leads into one unified leadership function.
As an Engineering Lead, you are responsible for enabling sustainable delivery across one or more squads by managing engineers, aligning technical direction (non-hands-on), and ensuring delivery outcomes. You are not expected to write code, but must demonstrate technical depth, strong leadership, and delivery ownership.
This role requires strong collaboration with engineers, product teams, and QA to ensure scalable, maintainable, and user-friendly systems are delivered.
Key Responsibilities
● Lead and develop software and qa engineers through 1:1s, feedback, growth plans, and performance reviews, fostering a psychologically safe and high‑performance environment.
● Own delivery outcomes across 1–3 squads, ensuring predictable execution, milestone achievement, and early risk escalation.
● Shape and evolve delivery rituals (planning, refinement, reviews, retrospectives) to improve focus, flow, and accountability.
● Provide technical alignment and oversight by reviewing architecture and system designs, ensuring quality, security, scalability, and observability standards.
● Drive process excellence using data, leveraging Jira, GitHub, and delivery metrics (e.g. DORA, sprint health) to identify bottlenecks and continuous improvements.
● Collaborate closely with Product leadership (PMs & POs) to align scope, priorities, and delivery expectations.
● Manage cross‑team and external dependencies, acting as the escalation point and ensuring external partners meet agreed milestones and quality standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications Experience:
● 4–6+ years in engineering leadership roles (EM, TL, TDM, or similar)
● Proven experience managing engineers in high-performing squads
● Strong understanding of modern tech stacks (Node.js, React, Postgres, AWS/K8s preferred)
● Demonstrated delivery ownership across multiple teams or projects
● Experience coordinating across functions (Product, QA, Design)
● Strong written and verbal communication in English
Nice to Have:
● Experience in a multi-product SaaS environment
● Exposure to DORA metrics, Lean/Agile practices
● Prior experience with remote teams

● Growth-oriented coaching – Spot potential in others, support their next level, and build future leaders.

● Predictable delivery pace and minimal rework across squads
● High engineering engagement and team retention
● Quality metrics (defect rate, rework) trending in the right direction
