Senior Application Engineer - Java and MILES

We are currently building a new, high-impact development team dedicated to the implementation and customization of the MILES application by Sofico, a leading enterprise software platform for fleet management and automotive leasing. This team will support a major German-speaking client, contributing to the design, development, integration and maintenance of critical system components.

We are seeking software developers who can work in complex enterprise environments and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. This is an opportunity to join a strategically important initiative at its inception, helping to shape both the technical foundation and delivery standards of a long-term project.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend components of the MILES (Sofico) application using Java and PL/SQL

• Customize and extend application modules in accordance with client-specific business requirements

• Collaborate with solution architects, business analysts, and other developers to translate functional specifications into technical solutions

• Integrate MILES with third-party systems via REST/SOAP APIs, data transformation (XML/XSLT), and middleware

• Participate in code reviews, testing, and release cycles to ensure high-quality deliverables

• Support deployment activities and post-go-live enhancements

• Work in an Agile/Scrum environment with clearly defined sprint cycles and delivery targets

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field

• Minimum 3–5 years of professional experience in enterprise software development

• Strong programming skills in Java (8+), including experience with Spring or similar frameworks

• Proficiency in Oracle PL/SQL and relational database design

• Experience with RESTful APIs, SOAP, XML, XSLT, and system integration

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and build tools (Maven, Jenkins)

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments

• Ability to communicate clearly in German and English (spoken and written)

Additional skills that will make you stand out:

• Experience with the MILES application (Sofico) or other fleet/leasing/ERP systems

• Understanding of the automotive finance, fleet operations, or leasing domain

• Exposure to frontend technologies such as Angular, TypeScript, or React

• Experience working with international or German-speaking clients
