Senior Java Developer (with DevOps)

We are seeking a skilled Java Developer with strong DevOps expertise to join our team in the banking and financial services sector. The ideal candidate combines solid backend development experience with the ability to work across both modern frameworks and legacy technologies. This role goes beyond coding — it requires hands-on involvement in automation, deployment, and cloud operations in Azure, ensuring reliable and scalable solutions.

You should bring proven knowledge of Kubernetes, Unix/Linux systems, Shell/Bash, and Python, along with excellent troubleshooting skills to quickly analyze and resolve issues in complex, production-grade environments. Working in a highly regulated financial domain, you will contribute to the stability, performance, and security of critical systems that support key banking operations.

This role offers a hybrid model, allowing you to work three days a week from our office in Kraków.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services in Java

• Work with both modern frameworks (Spring Boot, Quarkus) and legacy stacks (Struts, JSP, JDBC)

• Collaborate with Oracle database: schema design, SQL, and PL/SQL programming

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, ensuring reliable delivery to Azure

• Automate deployment, monitoring, and scaling of applications (app services, Azure SQL, Kubernetes, Docker)

• Manage and optimize workloads on Unix/Linux environments, scripting with Shell/Bash

• Develop automation tools and scripts in Python to support DevOps processes

• Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis for production and development environments

• Ensure system reliability, performance, and security across environments

• Participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing with the team

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in Java (8/11/17) with 3+ years of relevant experience

• Solid experience with Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate

• Familiarity with legacy enterprise technologies (Struts, JSP, JDBC)

• Knowledge of Oracle Database, SQL, and PL/SQL

• Hands-on experience with Azure cloud services, including deployment and monitoring

• Strong background in DevOps practices: CI/CD, automation, infrastructure as code

• Proficiency with Kubernetes for orchestration and scaling

• Experience with Unix/Linux systems, Shell/Bash scripting

• Knowledge of Python for automation and tooling

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, ability to debug across distributed systems

• Proficiency with Git and CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, etc.)

• Fluency in English, both written and spoken, at a minimum B2 level

Nice to have

• Experience migrating legacy systems to modern technology stacks

• Exposure to infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, Ansible, Bicep)

• Experience setting up monitoring and logging (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Azure Monitor)
