Senior Power BI Engineer

Our client is a global software company providing mission-critical, real-time payment and banking solutions to financial institutions, merchants, and billers. We are partnering with them to transform their data landscape, migrating from a legacy system (Yellowbrick) to a modern, centralized analytics platform on Databricks.

This initiative is about more than just moving data; it's about enabling a data-driven culture. The goal is to move beyond static reporting to a state-of-the-art platform that delivers fast, accurate, and actionable insights. We are looking for a Power BI expert who will be a key player in this transformation.

Your Role: The Bridge from Data to Value

You will be the bridge between raw data and business value, responsible for both migrating legacy reports and building the next generation of analytics products.

• Develop & Create: Partner with our UX Designers to bring their vision to life. You will take polished dashboard designs and wireframes and turn them into fully functional, scalable, and performant Power BI reports and dashboards.

• Migrate & Modernize: Analyze and reverse-engineer existing WebFOCUS reports to extract business logic, which you will then implement and enhance within Power BI, leveraging the full power of the Databricks platform.

• Architect the Semantic Layer: Design and build robust, scalable Power BI Semantic Models (datasets), including composite models, to provide a single source of truth for business users.

• Own Performance: Take ownership of the end-user experience. You will write clean, efficient DAX and optimize SQL views in Databricks to ensure dashboards are fast and responsive.

• Enable Self-Service: Empower business users to answer their own questions by creating intuitive, well-documented datasets and providing guidance on best practices.

• Govern & Secure: Implement and manage Row-Level Security (RLS) and workspace governance to ensure data is both accessible and secure.

What You Bring:

• Experience: 4+ years of commercial experience in Data Analytics/BI, with at least 3 years of intensive, hands-on development in Power BI.

• Expert Power BI Skills: Deep, practical knowledge of the entire Power BI ecosystem, from data modeling and advanced DAX patterns to service administration and performance tuning.

• SQL Mastery: You are comfortable writing and optimizing complex SQL queries for data preparation and transformation within a modern data warehouse (Databricks preferred).

• Strong Communication: You can clearly articulate technical challenges and solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences (English C1 is a must).

• Problem-Solving DNA: You have a strong sense of ownership and a preference for fixing the root cause of a problem, not just applying a quick patch.

• Collaborative Mindset: Proven experience working with UX designers and business stakeholders to translate requirements and designs into tangible data products

• Tech Stack: Power BI, DAX, SQL, Databricks, GIT.
