Senior Tehcnical Project Manager with Hardware Experience
emagine is looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager to drive complex hardware development and procurement projects for next‑generation light electric vehicles and related components. The assignment involves close collaboration with an established hardware supplier in China, with responsibility for end‑to‑end project execution and alignment across engineering, quality, operations and leadership teams.
This is a 6‑month contract with a strong possibility of extension. The consultant must be based in Stockholm and able to travel regularly to China.

Location: Stockholm hybrid (on-site minimum 3 days per week)
Traveling: Frequent travel to Asia is mandatory
YOUR MISSION
In this role, you will lead the full lifecycle of hardware development initiatives. You will work with internal teams and a key supplier to define requirements, monitor progress, solve technical challenges and secure high‑quality, on‑time delivery. You will typically run two parallel hardware programs, acting as the central coordinator from concept to industrialisation and beyond.
You will:
• Lead structured, end‑to‑end project management for multiple hardware programs in parallel• Coordinate cross‑functional stakeholders and external suppliers on schedules, risks, deliverables and next steps• Translate business and operational needs into clear engineering requirements and evaluation criteria• Support review and testing of prototypes, covering repairability, reliability, UX, energy performance and more• Contribute to technical documentation such as DFMEA, PFMEA, FEA and reliability/repairability assessments• Drive structured tracking of actions, decisions, responsibilities and technical progress• Present clear project updates to leadership and integrate senior stakeholder input into program plans• Build strong working relationships with supplier teams and lead constructive discussions around quality, timelines and technical topics• Travel frequently to China and occasionally to other markets to work hands‑on with suppliers and support field activities
WHAT YOU BRING
You are a technically driven, hands‑on program manager who thrives in a fast‑moving environment. You enjoy navigating between detailed engineering discussions and high‑level strategy, and you excel at ensuring structure, clarity and momentum across multiple stakeholders.
You have:
• A degree in engineering or equivalent hands‑on technical background• Extensive experience collaborating with hardware suppliers, ideally including Chinese manufacturers• A track record of leading hardware products through requirements, development, launch and post‑launch improvement• Experience working with mechanical, electrical, verification and certification teams, as well as procurement, firmware, QA and supply chain• Strong mechanical engineering understanding with exposure to DFMEA, PFMEA, FEA, repairability and reliability testing; CAD/CAE knowledge is an advantage• Good electrical engineering familiarity to participate in reviews and analyse reliability results• Strong communication and presentation skills, capable of distilling complex topics for mixed audiences• Analytical, data‑driven mindset; experience with SQL or similar tools is a plus• Comfortable working with modern AI tools to increase efficiency and structure• Fluency in English; Chinese language skills are a strong asset• Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate across time zones, including frequent travel to Asia
