emagine is seeking a remote Senior System Support Engineer to join our agile Computational Scientific Platforms team. You will be responsible for ensuring the functionality and support of data, middleware, and IT infrastructure used in complex scientific computing, whether on-premises or in the cloud. This role involves working closely with scientists and IT vendors, demanding a proactive approach and the ability to engage various stakeholders constructively.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Providing comprehensive support for both on-premises and cloud infrastructures.
• Engaging with users to understand their requirements, offering personalized support, and documenting processes.
• Translating user feedback into actionable improvements and defining user stories for our agile team.
• Enhancing platform efficiency through automation.
• Collaborating to share insights and experiences within the team.
• Conducting testing and bug fixing.
• Working on governance and security in collaboration with the System Manager.
• Coordination with cross-functional teams to resolve issues.
• Performing root cause analysis to swiftly tackle technical challenges.

REQUIRMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree focused on IT systems support or Scientific Computing.
• At least 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure support or similar roles.
• Proficiency in the following technologies:
• Linux/Bash
• Powershell
• DevOps CI/CD practices
• Python, Git, GitHub
• Containerization (Docker/OCI/Podman)
• Experience with Jupyterhub, Jupyterlab, and Jupyter Notebooks
• Active Directory, SSO, Kerberos, OAuth
• Strong understanding of the importance of stable platforms and support processes.
• Strong team-oriented and service-focused mentality.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.

NICE TO HAVE:

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Puppet, Terraform.
• Familiarity with Container Orchestration (Kubernetes/Nomad).
• Experience in cloud environments (AWS & Azure) including Storage, Compute and Networking.
