Project description: The SL Design System is a unified set of design principles, components, and tokens used to create consistent, accessible, and scalable user interfaces across all SL digital products. It includes guidelines for layout, typography, color, spacing, and interaction patterns, and is implemented in both Figma (for designers) and code (for developers). The system ensures visual and functional consistency, speeds up product development, and improves collaboration between design and engineering teams.

Main Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain accessibility test plans for design system components and patterns.
Perform manual accessibility testing using screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack) and assistive technologies.
Apply automated testing tools (e.g., axe, Lighthouse, Pa11y) to identify and track accessibility issues.
Partner with developers to review code (HTML, CSS, ARIA, semantic markup) and ensure compliance with standards.
Collaborate with designers to validate accessible design patterns before implementation.
Document accessibility guidelines, test cases, and best practices within the design system.
Support cross-functional teams by providing accessibility expertise and training when needed.
Ensure continuous monitoring of accessibility standards and regulations to keep the design system up to date.
Key Requirements:
Strong understanding of WCAG 2.1+, WAI-ARIA, and accessibility legislation (e.g., EN 301 549, ADA, Section 508).
Hands-on experience testing with assistive technologies (screen readers, magnifiers, speech input).
3+ years of experience in JavaScript/TypeScript.
Familiarity with automated accessibility testing frameworks and CI/CD integration.
Knowledge of semantic HTML, CSS, and accessible JavaScript patterns.
Strong communication skills to collaborate with designers, engineers, and stakeholders.
Ability to write clear, actionable bug reports and documentation.
English proficiency: B2/C1 (both written and spoken communication).
Nice to Have:
Experience with usability testing involving people with disabilities.
Familiarity with inclusive design principles.
Contribution to accessibility communities, open-source projects, or audits.
Experience with web components.
Experience with design systems or component libraries is a plus.
