Lab Automation Business Analyst / Project Manager (Pharma)
The objective of this project is to define, develop, and implement robust laboratory automation solutions that support operations by minimizing IT dependency risks and maximizing workflow reliability. The focus is to identify and integrate the automation components needed for operational efficiency – ensuring systems can receive all necessary input at the start and run independently of external IT systems during execution. This will be supported through early alignment with stakeholders, precise requirements gathering, and implementation planning that ensures system compatibility with internal infrastructure, security policies, and connectivity standards.
The scope of this project includes the definition, development, and integration of automation systems within clearly defined system boundaries. It covers:
Core automation functionality and the direct integrations required to execute laboratory workflows.
Identification and mapping of critical data flows to ensure appropriate system handoffs and reduce integration risks.
Coordination with relevant stakeholders to align system expectations, IT compatibility, and operational dependencies from the start of the project.
Ensuring the automation setup supports a secure, maintainable, and compliant operating environment, based on established internal governance.
Preparation of clear documentation and requirements to guide implementation and future scalability.
Key Requirements
Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in laboratory automation or relevant life science fields, business analysis, and project management.
Demonstrated experience managing or contributing to cross-functional automation projects, preferably in regulated or research-driven environments.
Strong documentation practices and attention to detail are essential.
Degree in life sciences (preferably biotechnology, pharmaceutical sciences, or related disciplines).
Hands-on experience in wet lab environments, including direct interaction with lab processes and equipment.
Experience with liquid handling robotics and automation workflows.
Solid understanding of Research IT systems and IT dependencies in lab environments.
Hands-on experience in business process mapping, requirement gathering and coordination of IT developments.
Strong project coordination skills with a proven ability to facilitate collaboration across various stakeholder groups.
