Data Engineer

Summary:

The role of the Data Engineer is pivotal in developing, optimizing, and maintaining data products that align with the organization's vision, ensuring seamless integration and robust performance within the Google Cloud Platform environment.

Main Responsibilities:

• Take end-to-end responsibility to build, optimize and support existing and new data products towards the defined target vision.

• Be a champion of DevOps mindset and principles, managing CI/CD pipelines and Terraform, focusing on GCP.

• Ensure data products function as independent deployment units, adhering to standards for security, scalability, observability, and performance.

• Collaborate closely with the Product Owner and stakeholders regarding the vision for data products and identify new opportunities to meet customer needs.

• Engage with product teams to discuss and advance topics related to the data mesh concept.

• Evaluate for continuous improvement and reduction of technical debt within teams.

• Maintain expertise in the latest data, analytics, and cloud technologies.

Key Requirements:

• 4+ years of experience as a Data Engineer on GCP.

• Proficient in GCP tools like Dataflow and BigQuery.

• Experience with Data Build Tool (DBT).

• Familiarity with data formats like Avro and Parquet.

• Experience in SQL or similar data query languages.

• Ability to ingest data from various on-premise sources and cloud providers like Azure.

• Proficiency in data-centric programming languages (Python, Java, or Scala).

• Solid understanding of different data modeling techniques.

• Knowledge of NoSQL and RDBMS databases.

• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

• Fluent in written and verbal English.

Nice to Have:

• Business understanding of the retail industry.
