Our team is building and operating the systems that support Procure-to-Pay processes for core business verticals including audiobooks and lyrics royalties. We partner closely with finance, commerce, product, and engineering teams to make sure royalty and payment data flows are reliable, scalable, and ready to support new business models. Our systems help ensure rights holders, publishers, and partners can be paid accurately and on time. As engineers on this team, we design and maintain the data and backend platform capabilities that power high-volume royalty and payment workflows with precision. We build services that support payout workflows, produce compliant financial records, and help meet regulatory requirements across global markets — all while staying agile to keep up with our evolving business model.
We’re looking for engineers passionate about building complex, high-impact systems. You’ll work closely with stakeholders in Finance (e.g., Accounting), Product, and Engineering to design solutions that are scalable, auditable, and robust. If you’re energized by the challenge of transforming intricate business processes into clean, extensible platforms, we’d love to have you on the team.
- Design and build the data and backend systems that turn large-scale consumption, entitlement, and royalty data into accurate earnings and payouts for audiobooks and lyrics rights holders.
- Build self-serve tools that let Finance define and manage product-specific earnings logic and payouts without needing engineering in the loop.
- Develop modular platform capabilities that encode critical financial workflows — making them consistent, reusable, and easy to maintain as the business model evolves.
- Partner with Product, Finance (e.g. Accounting), and fellow engineers to ship systems that are auditable, reliable, and correct under regulatory scrutiny across global markets.
- Raise the engineering bar through strong architectural design, operational excellence, and a culture of shared ownership and constructive feedback.
- You have a T-shaped skill set: deep expertise in data engineering, with the ability to extend into backend services when the system requires it.
- You've built pipelines that process large-scale transactional, usage, or financial data, and you're fluent in Scala (we run Scio on Dataflow); experience with Java, Python, and BigQuery is a strong plus.
- You're comfortable with cloud-native development on Google Cloud Platform, and you design for reliability, maintainability, and auditability at scale — qualities that matter when the output is money owed to rights holders.
- You think rigorously about system design and trade-offs, and you raise the engineering bar through code quality, testing, and clear documentation.
- You communicate clearly across engineering, finance, and product, ask sharp clarifying questions, and create alignment when requirements are still forming.
- You do your best work in ambiguous, fast-moving problem spaces, and you build platforms with empathy for the people who use them — prioritizing usability and long-term sustainability over short-term shortcuts.
