Database Administrator / Engineer (Db2 / Cloud Migration)

Database Administrator / Engineer (Db2 / Cloud Migration)

Responsibilities:

• Support and maintain Db2 databases across on-premises (VMware) and Google Cloud environments

• Plan, test, and execute complex database migrations to GCP with minimal operational disruption

• Perform senior-level database administration tasks, including performance tuning, capacity planning, and upgrades

• Troubleshoot complex incidents and resolve performance bottlenecks in a hybrid architecture

• Ensure database compliance, risk mitigation, and adherence to strict audit requirements in a regulated financial environment

• Collaborate closely with cloud architects, platform engineers, and application teams to ensure smooth transitions

• Create and maintain detailed documentation and operational runbooks for the new cloud-based environment

Requirements:

• 4+ years of hands-on experience as a Db2 DBA / Database Engineer

• Strong knowledge of Db2 on Linux/Unix platforms

• Proven experience working in enterprise Db2 environments

• Exposure to cloud or hybrid deployments (Google Cloud Platform preferred)

• Experience supporting critical systems in regulated environments

Nice to have:

• Direct experience executing large-scale database modernization or cloud migration programs (e.g., VMware to Cloud)

• Proficiency in automation and scripting (Bash, Python, Terraform, etc.)

• Solid understanding of cloud networking concepts and security fundamentals
